New Amsterdam Fencing Academy’s adult program offers a weekly two-hour class which introduces basic footwork, weapon control, fundamental attacks and defenses, and rules and protocols of sport fencing.
Below is a list of gear that is used in the adult groups. Equipment will be provided, but if you wish to purchase your own we recommend Absolute Fencing Gear. Please talk to your coach if you any questions about gear.
For Beginners:
The minimum that every student should own is a FOIL mask, (smallest comfortable size). a jacket, and a glove. These links are just suggestions. If your child is committed to the sport, higher priced options are generally worth the investment.
Absolute Fencing offers a 5-piece beginner set, which is a good way to go.
