New Amsterdam Fencing Academy’s Junior program offers a two-hour class integrating more intricate footwork, advanced weapon control, strategy and tactics, as well as the long-term self-discipline key to navigating a successful adolescence.

The fee includes a weekly 20 minute private lesson.

Each fencer is encouraged to set their own personal and athletic goals, ranging from qualifying for a school team to competing at the national level to an opportunity for earning college scholarships. While always keeping the ultimate objective in mind, NAFA works individually with each of our athletes to help them reach their full potential.

Below is a list of gear that is required of fencers in the Junior groups.  We recommend Absolute Fencing Gear.  Please talk to your coach if you any questions about gear.
If your child has been fencing for at least one year, he or she should own a full set of equipment.  This includes the uniform, detailed below, as well as a body cord, lame, and electric foil.
For Beginners:
The minimum that every student should own is a FOIL mask, (smallest comfortable size). a jacket, and a glove.  These links are just suggestions.  If your child is committed to the sport, higher priced options are generally worth the investment.
Absolute Fencing offers a 5-piece beginner set, which is a good way to go.
There is sizing help on the site, here.  We can also help in class with size recommendations, and feel free to contact us if you have further questions.
